Our Anzac Meal

As part of learning about the ANZAC's we experienced an ANZAC meal. This was when we  got given a jaw-breaker,(a hard biscuit)some jam and corned beef(that was canned). We got a bowl and helped ourselves to the jam and canned corn beef, or bully beef as the soldiers used to call it. To add flavour we filled our hard-biscuits with the jam. The biscuts hurt to eat, they were that hard, that is why they were nick-named Jaw Breakers. The jam made them taste a bit better. The cheese we ate was also made better with jam on it. Most of the class think the corned beef was the worst to eat because it was all melted and soft. I'll bet the ANZAC's hated eating it, but that was the price you had to pay if you were a soldier in World War 1!
