The Witches: Book vs Film

As you know, we have been reading The Witches by Roald Dahl in class for the last 6 weeks.
We finally completed the story last Friday and followed it up by watching the 1990 film with the same name.
There were a few differences between the book and the movie, and we found that one third of the class preferred the book and the other two thirds preferred the movie.

 Watch the trailer above!

  2. 1 difference in the movie was that the mouse poison stuff was in a book not in between the mattresses like it was in the book.! ;) And the other was when the made came in and she put some of that mouse stuff on her self! :/
I preferred the book because you could imagine more things like what she looks like & it makes you feel like 'whats going to happen next!'

    Thats all.

    Bye.

  4. 1 difference in the movie is when Luke escapes the witches and then gets caught in his room, and the second difference is at the end of the movie when a good witch turns him back into a human being.

i found the boom better because i could predict what the movie would look like.

  5. A difference was when there was no frogs under the bed and another one was the potion was in a book not in the bed.I like the book better because I imaged in my head that the witches would be uglier.

  6. A difference in the movie was the ending in the movie a good witch turns him back into the boy. In the book that doesn't happen he likes being a mouse.I like the book because there telling you what they are like and get to picture it the way you want. But the movie was still cool!

  8. 1 difference was that one of the witches in the crowd were incinerated by the grantee' witch. And the 2nd difference was that the chubby boy's father wanted the soup that had been poisend, but as soon as he got it the grandmother spilt it so he couldn't eat it. I like the movie better because i would have done it pretty much the same way. I would tell the producer to put more funny bits in it though.
    yay---ya finished all my homework!!

    Sorry i wrote sooooo much!!

  9. 1 difference is that the mouse potion was in a book in the movie and under the mattress in the book, the other is he got turned back into a human in the movie and in the book he stayed in his mouse form.
i liked the book more because it lets you imagine it in your head.

  13. I preffered the video because of course, you can see what they look like, whereas in the book you kinda forget things. Diferences were the mouse potion and the frogs under the bed.
