The Christchurch Earthquake has done a lot of damage and our class wants to know more about "New Zealand's Darkest Day."
Every morning after roll we get an update about the earthquake. We have watched videos and our word of the week is Liquefaction (the strength and stiffness of a soil is reduced by earthquake shaking).
So far we know about the earthquake in Wellington and stories from survivors.
In reading, some groups are looking at news clippings about the Cathedral falling down, "The Human Digger", Cashel Mall and people who are committing crimes during the aftermath.
We have integrated our curriculum so we are learning about Natural Disasters in both Social Studies and Reading!
